Book 2 of The Harbinger's contemporary fantasy series features angels, demons, and gargoyles in a battle to save humanity. For fans of Cassandra Clare, Gena Showalter, and Holly Black.

A half-human, half-angel, and her bonded gargoyle protector must work with demons to stop the apocalypse while avoiding falling in love. The Harbinger is coming...but who or what is it? All of the humankind may fall if Trinity and Zayne can't win the race against time as dark forces gather...and Lucifer himself may walk the earth once more.

Tensions rise and Zayne and Trinity must stay close together and patrol the D.C. streets at night, seeking signs of the Harbinger, an entity that is killing Wardens and demons with no seeming rhyme or reason. Forbidden to be with each other, they fight their feelings and turn to unusual sources for help--the demon Roth and his cohorts. But as more deaths pile on and they uncover a sinister plot involving the local high school and endangering someone dear to Zayne, Trin realizes she is being led...herded...played for some unknown end. As anger builds and feelings spiral out of control, it becomes clear that rage may be the ruin of them all.

After the BOMB ending with a hallucinating plot twist, we can finally go back to reading about Trin and Zayne.

SPOILER WARNING FOR WHOM HAS NOT READ YET THE FIRST BOOK

In the first volume, Zayne had discovered what power hid Trin and now he is her Defender. What twist of fate, funny isn't it? As if that were not enough, between the two characters there are sentimental precedents and this situation complicates their relationship even more. As if that weren't enough, they are still on the hunt for the Messenger - a creature capable of slaying both demons and Guardians.

I don't want to go any further because this book is beautiful to discover, piece by piece. I have always heard good comments about this author, but I have never recovered anything from her. This is one of the examples where, after reading so many positive opinions, you approach a book with very high expectations and are not disappointed.

Jennifer L. Armentrout has an amazing ability to weave an intricate web in which the reader gets trapped without realizing it. Her fluid and linear writing style allowed me to immediately enter the story and to be transported into this perfectly described world-building.

I liked the way world-building is presented to us without weighing the story down but making it even more interesting. I had a lot of fun while reading because Jennifer L. Armentrout has such a fresh, youthful, and often irreverent style ... don't you understand the laughs I got !! I had never used the yellow color of post-it and with her, I managed to finish it!

I particularly enjoyed the character development. If in the first volume we have learned to appreciate them, in this chapter we are completely fascinated. In this second volume, there is an enormous growth of both protagonists and I was pleasantly surprised by their emotional deepening. Something not taken for granted.

The slow start has been criticized, but I found it necessary to allow the reader to get even more in touch and in tune with the characters.

Jennifer L. Armentrout is the magic of twists. There are absurd plot twists (pass me the term) that when you read them you are amazed because you just did not expect it. Now I would like to spend two minutes of silence for the finale, my heart has not yet recovered... The sequel will be released only in June !!!!

The Harbinger is the spin-off of The Dark Elements series that has been gathering dust in my library for centuries, now I have no more excuses to wait !! I met Roth in these two chapters and fell in love with him ... oh my heart beats for the Prince and his familiar.

I can say with certainty that this author is in my top 10 favorite authors ... I have never devoured a book with so much pleasure and I have never laughed so much during a reading!

If after this review I still haven't convinced you to read this book, you really have to follow me on Instagram because in the next few days some very interesting content will come out on this series.
